There are countless words to describe my Grandmother, Anne. Independant, outgoing, devoted, charitable, and warmhearted are just a few.
Some of my fondest memories of her are centered around family and the community. When I was a child I admired my gram. In my mind she could do anything. I wanted to be just like her.
I remember making bisquits for Community suppers with her, she and I sewing and cross-stitching for hours, making crafts for 4-H events, gardening and on Friday nights we would watch Wheel of Fortune and Hee-Haw religiously, eat popcorn and drink orange Tang with my grandfather, cousins Luke and Currie and my little brother Patrick.
I remember she would race me from the front door of the house to the greenhouse and back over and over. We used to play HORSE at the basketball hoop that was hitched to the greenhouse and she would always insist best out of 3 wins. She taught me how to bake bread and because of her I won 3rd place in the 4-H bake-off.
I remember on Thanksgiving we would get together at her house and she would make so much food... and it always included her famous broccoli cassarole. At Christmas our whole family would get together and go sing christmas carols, then go to the Methodist Chapel for service. Even when we got older and had our own families we would go with her because it ment so much to her. And she always loved her charlie brown christmas trees.
She would always make a christmas ornament for all of us grandchildren with our names and the year on it, she did it for all of us since we were newborns. The ornament changed every year and I remember every year wondering what she was going to surprise us with that Christmas. And on Easter, when i was a kid we used to serve breakfast at the 4-H clubhouse for the public. Family, friends and her Christian faith were the core of her soul.
She ment so much to all of us and will be remembered in different ways in our hearts and I will miss her so much.
